Allied FCU Staff and Members Donate School Supplies and $300 Each to Three Local Schools

August 22, 2022

Allied Federal Credit Union members and staff donated $900 and school supplies last week to three local schools with a high population of economically disadvantaged children. Credit union Union employees delivered those donations to Erma Nash Elementary, Webb Elementary and Williams Elementary.

The donations were part of the Credit Union’s Casual for a Cause program, which enables employees to pay money to wear casual clothing at work. That money goes into a fund, and an employee-based committee decides where to donate it. Allied FCU has been collecting school supplies in its branches since the beginning of July to help children of struggling families start school successfully.

“This is an expensive time of year for families with school-aged children – especially this year with inflation. Everything costs more than it used to,” said Tonia Clark, CEO of Allied Federal Credit Union. “Without the proper tools for the classroom, kids can’t fully participate in lessons, and teachers can’t teach effectively. We hope our donations helped these schools start the school year more successfully.”
